Being part of college activities is what makes the experience so enriching and sports activities has a lot to do with it. Our team has been often asked by students regarding what are the major sports leadues or tournaments, we might have been part of or heard of, that are open for participation for college students. And we thought why not summarise few of them over here.
So, here are the major Inter-college sports tournaments:
1) Inter IIT Sports Meet
One of the oldest and biggest sports tournament held across country. Started in 1961, this meet sees participation of more than 20 IITs (Engineering colleges) from each state with contingent size of student and staff going as high as upto 300. Open to students from IIT (Indian Institue of Technology) ONLY.
2) SANGHARSH
On the lines of Inter IIT, sangharsh is an annual sports meet taking place between major 4 IIMs (Management schools) - IIM Ahmedababd, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow. Participated by over 1000 students this event is open for students from these 4 premier institues only. Open to students from four IIM (Indian Institue of Management) ONLY.
3) SPREE
Annual sports festival of BITS Pilani - Goa campus. Amongst the well-known sports competitions across the country, this is a pretty well-managed gathering by student society of BITS Pilani. Open to students from any college in India & abroad.
4) SPIRIT
One of the largest sports competition in North Eastern India, spirit has been going successfully for the alst 10+ years. Open to ALL students across the country this event is a professionally managed competition and sees enthusiastic participation from all around the country.
5) SPARDHA
Annual sports festival of IIT (BHU), Varanasi - a city known for its extremely rich hindu cultural heritage, ghats and ofcourse, the Lok Sabha constiuency of our Present Prime Minister - Narendra Modi. Probably the biggest sports fest in Northern India, spardha has been executed by engineers of IIT BHU since last 30+ years and has tremendous traction amongst the students when it comes to eagerness for participation. Open to ALL students across the country from any institute.
6) Ensemble-Valhalla XLRI
Happening in the steel city of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand is Ensemble-Valhalla. Hosted by XLRI its an annual cultural, management and sports fest, that sees tonnes of sports activities with footfall of almost all big and small names from India from engineering & management schools. Open to ALL students across the country from any institute.
